Pink Petunias

I found these old- time petunias growing in an abandoned field. As the Jonquils, they were probably planted there long ago by someone who once lived nearby. These petunias range in color from white to pinks, lavenders to deep purple. They will come back year after year and have a wonderful smell, to me it's similar to the smell of cloves. You can't help but wonder, who planted them there and how long have they been coming back each year. No matter, they are still beautiful.
"For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations."
Psalm 100: 5

i love seeing plants running wild in a location that you just know had to have been planted by some long ago resident or maybe, pioneer, even. it makes me wonder at the stories that happened there in years past. other mama's and papa's (grandparents on mama's side)old home place is like that. it is just covered with daffodils in the spring. she probably only planted a few!

Last fall I planted over 300 bulbs at the farm - daffodils, tuplips, crocus, anemones, lilies, miniature iris - I hope they live forever, and maybe someday someone somewhere will see them running wild & discover how beautiful they still are & remember how much Marvin & I enjoyed spending time there w/ each other & communing with nature. It never gets old.
